The name "Digital Anarchy" was inspired by a late '90s description of the Internet, which perfectly captures our philosophy. "Anarchy" reflects the rapid, ever-changing environment we thrive in, constantly seeking fresh, creative solutions for video editors, filmmakers, broadcast designers and visual effects artists.

After a decade in the software industry, company president Jim Tierney ventured out on his own. In April 2001, he launched Digital Anarchy’s first After Effects product, Elements of Anarchy: Text, created by co-founder and former ILM programmer, Garrick Meeker. The company expanded its product offerings each year, venturing into post-production tools for photo, video, graphic design, and text-based editing plugins. Since then, we’ve continued to introduce groundbreaking products across both our video and photo lines.
