The host apps supported are After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Davinci Resolve. We no longer develop or offer technical support for Vegas and Motion however all plugins should work with them.

  • For Motion: Download our FX4 (FCP) builds to demo the plugin before purchasing. If everything looks correct, purchase a serial number for Final Cut Pro – this serial will activate the plugin in Motion.
  • For Vegas: Download the latest OFX builds to demo the plugin before purchasing. If everything looks correct, purchase a serial number for OFX (OpenFx) – this serial will activate the plugin in Vegas.

We highly recommend running the demo thoroughly before purchasing a license.

This message usually comes up when you are trying to activate Beauty Box 4.0 with a 5.0 serial number. Close all applications, download, and install the correct version. Re-entering the serial number should then activate the plugin.

Running the installer will also run the uninstaller and remove the 4.0 version from your machine. If the problem persists,  you can double-check this was done correctly by searching for “Beauty Box” on your system and checking if any other version besides Beauty Box 5.0 or later shows up

Beauty Box works on all skin tones. However, having subjects with similar hair and skin color can pose a problem. This can happen for black hair and darker skin tones or blond hair and lighter skin tones. You can work around this by decreasing the Hue, Saturation, and Value Range sliders to help limit Beauty Box’s inclusion of similar color tones.

While adjusting those sliders, it is helpful to have “Show Mask” on simultaneously, so you can see the mask changing in real-time. For very dark skin tones it can be a problem since the mask will start picking up shadow areas or dark clothing. So if you have someone in a black suit/dress/shirt you need to pay special attention to the mask to reduce the effect Beauty Box has on the hair and clothing. We always recommend doing a test on your footage with the demo version of Beauty Box before purchase.

Beauty Box can be used on all skin areas, not just the face.  See this example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkGFlnUgegE&feature=youtu.be

The process for treating arms, legs, etc will be mostly the same. However, since the detection algorithm generally looks for a face, in this case you will have to manually tell the video editing software what the skin tones are. This usually requires a few clicks on the image with the Set Color, Add Color or Dark Color/Light Color buttons. Check this video tutorial: https://youtu.be/UkGFlnUgegEh

Regarding a scar it depends. If the scar is new and there’s a lot of discoloration, then probably not. For older scars, if it’s a fairly thin scar, then Beauty Box should improve things. If it’s a massive patch of skin from a motorcycle accident, probably not.

Yes, we support Dynamic Link across the Adobe applications.
